Registration as a jobseeker
A jobseeker is a person who is seeking employment and has registered as a jobseeker with the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund. A jobseeker seeks employment if they turn to the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund at least once in 90 days to obtain the job mediation service.
In order to register as a jobseeker, visit a consultant at your nearest Unemployment Insurance Fund office and bring a valid identification document with you. You can also submit the application via the self-service portal by clicking on the following link: register as a jobseeker.
Once you have registered as a jobseeker, we will help you to
- find job offers and suitable work;
- improve skills required for job-seeking.
Jobseekers of retirement age can participate in labour market training and work placements and receive a business start-up subsidy, if necessary.
You cannot register as a jobseeker if you:
- are under 13 years of age;
- are not a citizen permanently residing in Estonia or a foreigner residing in Estonia on the basis of a temporary residence permit; are not a citizen of the European Union or Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway or an asylum seeker from these countries; are not receiving temporary/subsidiary international protection or applying for asylum
Your status as a jobseeker will be terminated if
- 90 days has passed since your last visit to the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund;
- you file a respective request;
- you are no longer a citizen permanently residing in Estonia or a foreigner residing in Estonia on the basis of a temporary residence permit; or a citizen of the European Union or Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway or an asylum seeker from these countries; no longer receive temporary/subsidiary international protection or apply for asylum.
