The purpose of apprenticeship is to provide a client with practical work experience that is necessary for recruitment and to allow them to gain additional professional skills and knowledge at the employer. When directing a client to a apprenticeship, we take into account their past work experience, skills and knowledge, job search results and job requests.

Apprenticeship can be attended by:

  • a registered unemployed person
  • a jobseeker who has received a redundancy notice
  • a person who is of retirement age, registered as a jobseeker and does not currently have a job.

Apprenticeship lasts as long as is necessary to acquire the practical skills needed for work, but no more than four months. The suitability of the apprenticeship is assessed by the Unemployment Insurance Fund; the duration of the apprenticeship is agreed upon between the client, employer and the Unemployment Insurance Fund, on the basis of the requirements of the position and how well the client matches them. A trainee can participate in apprenticeship up to 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week.

We will conclude an administrative contract to organise apprenticeship. For questions concerning the organization of apprenticeship, please contact the regional department of the Unemployment Insurance Fund; relevant contacts can be found here: contacts of employers' consultants

A private legal entity or natural person cannot have tax arrears (incl. deferred tax arrears or interest debt), information concerning punishment in the criminal records database, or liquidation or bankruptcy proceedings initiated concerning them.

During the apprenticeship, we will pay remuneration to the employer for the supervision – 27,84 per day during the first month, 20,88 per day during the second month and 13,92 per day during the third and the fourth month.

It is not allowed to conclude an employment contract with the trainee during the apprenticeship or pay salary to them during the same period. Otherwise, the apprenticeship qualifies as an employment relationship and the Unemployment Insurance Fund will be required to take the trainee of the list of people registered as unemployed and end the apprenticeship as well.

When organising apprenticeship, the employer is required to do the following:

  • arrange supervision and mentoring for the trainee;
  • keep records of participation in the work practice;
  • provide the Unemployment Insurance Fund with feedback on the trainee's apprenticeship in the form of apprenticeship records;
  • submit, to the Unemployment Insurance Fund, a participation sheet concerning the days of apprenticeship participation for the previous month by the 5th day of each month.

The participation sheet that has been filled in an signed should be given to a contact person of the Unemployment Insurance Fund. We will then check the submitted data, calculate supervision fees and pay those to the employer. If necessary, we will ask clarifying questions and additional data. We also have the right to acquaint ourselves with the arrangement and conditions of the work place at the workplace on the spot.
