The Unemployment Insurance Fund pays you the benefit up to the day of leaving from Estonia.
On arrival in your new country register yourself as a jobseeker with the local employment services within seven days of signing off in the country you are leaving (the latest date of registration is provided in section 2.3 of the U2 form) and submit your U2 form. When you manage to register in timely manner the Unemployment Insurance Fund shall calculate the unemployment insurance benefit from the date of your departure. The benefit you are entitled to will be paid to you as soon as the competent authority of the foreign country has sent the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund a confirmation about your registration as unemployed, taking into consideration the provisions of the Unemployment Insurance Act regulating the payment of benefits. If you are a jobseeker in Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein the country of job seeking continues the payment of your benefit on the basis of the E303 certificate provided you meet the activity requirements in that country.
If you register later than the specified date you will receive the unemployment insurance benefit from the date of registration and thus, you will not receive the benefit for any days you failed to register. If you will not register yourself as a jobseeker in the other country you can lose the entitlement to the unemployment insurance benefit.
In order to receive the benefit you have to comply with the other country's rules on registering and looking for work (must visit the employment services when requested, verify job seeking, accept suitable work etc.). Also, you have to notify the employment services of any circumstances preventing you from looking for work, also, of termination of job seeking or entering into employment.
Payments of the unemployment insurance benefit shall be discontinued if you find work, terminate job seeking or breach job seeking rules in the foreign country.
